FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
MATERIAL SOURCING
How are the pieces made?
Each piece from The Grounding Studio is made by Spencer Elizabeth and thoughtfully handcrafted to embody both artistry and intention. She begins by throwing the clay on the wheel, allowing it to reach the ideal dryness before carefully trimming, refining, and stamping each form. Following the initial bisque firing, every piece is hand-painted with precision and then glaze-fired to ensure it is food safe. This deliberate process unfolds over the course of several days, allowing each stage the time and attention it deserves.
Due to the nature of handmade ceramics, each piece is unique, and slight variations are to be celebrated. This time-honored, labor-intensive process is both challenging and deeply rewarding. Every bowl, mug, and vessel is a singular creation, infused with care and intention, designed to bring a sense of elegance, mindfulness, and serenity to your daily rituals.
What are the products made of, and where are the materials sourced?
Each piece is hand-thrown or sculpted using a variety of colors in stoneware Cone 6 clay, primarily sourced from a trusted pottery supplier in Florida. I also create while traveling, drawing inspiration from new environments and sourcing materials locally whenever possible. My most recent collection began as prototypes in Bali, Indonesia, and Kyoto, Japan, but each piece was carefully brought to life in my home studio in Florida. Like all my work, this collection is forever inspired by the places I’ve been privileged to visit, the surrounding natural elements, and the cultural rituals they instill.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Are the pieces dishwasher and/or microwave-safe?
All of my dishware pieces are fired with non-toxic, food-safe glaze, making them safe for both dishwasher and microwave use. However, I highly recommend hand washing to preserve the longevity and beauty of each piece.
Every ceramic creation is one-of-a-kind, so specific care instructions are included with your order. Please refer to the care label or care card provided to ensure your piece stays in perfect condition.
