Grounding in Clay: A mindful planter workshop

The Grounding Studio is delighted to return to Harry P. Leu Gardens for another season of ceramic workshops with Grounding in Clay: A Mindful Planter Workshop. Set within the beauty of the gardens, this educational, hands-on experience invites participants to slow down, reconnect, and explore the fundamentals of ceramics through a thoughtful and approachable creative practice.
Working from a wheel-thrown planter base prepared in advance, participants will learn foundational ceramic techniques including clay preparation, slip application and scoring, surface decoration, texture building, and underglaze painting. The workshop offers an opportunity to create a personalized planter while gaining a deeper understanding of how ceramic pieces are constructed and finished.
Designed for all experience levels, the process is steady and intentional, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and personal expression at a comfortable pace. Registration also includes admission to Leu Gardens, allowing participants to enjoy the gardens before or after class and extend the experience beyond the workshop itself.
