Grounding in Clay: a mindful planter workshop

The Grounding Studio partnered with Harry P. Leu Gardens to host a nature-centered ceramic workshop inspired by the gardens' beauty and sense of calm. Participants explored hand-building, sculpting, and surface decoration techniques while creating personalized ceramic vessels in an environment that encouraged presence, creativity, and connection.
As the first official workshop hosted by The Grounding Studio, this experience marked an important milestone. What began as an idea evolved over several months of planning, testing, and refinement to create a workshop that was not only enjoyable, but educational and approachable for beginners. Considerable time was spent developing the curriculum, workshopping the project, and thoughtfully designing an experience that balanced creativity, learning, and accessibility.
Seeing the workshop sell out was both exciting and deeply affirming. It provided an opportunity to share a personal ceramics journey, introduce others to the medium, and begin developing a teaching practice. One of the most rewarding parts of the experience was watching participants gain confidence throughout the workshop and seeing the pride they felt as their pieces came together. Every planter reflected the individuality and creativity of its maker, and the finished work was a beautiful reflection of the energy in the room.
The success of this workshop reinforced the importance of putting creative work into the world and trusting the process of building something new. What began as The Grounding Studio's first workshop has since grown into an ongoing collaboration with Leu Gardens, making this experience a particularly meaningful chapter in the studio's story.
Valentine's Pop-Up Announcing "Mon Amour" Collection Drop

The Grounding Studio partnered with Onyx Gift & Books, a Black-owned bookstore celebrating Black authors and artists, to showcase Mon Amour, the studio's first Valentine's collection.
Mon Amour, meaning "my love" in French, was inspired by a love for pottery, an ongoing journey of learning the French language, and time spent in Paris over the years. Each handcrafted piece featured a Valentine-inspired name in French, drawing from the many ways love is expressed across cultures—amour, amore, and amor.
The pop-up provided an opportunity to share the collection in person and connect with the community in a meaningful way. One of the most memorable parts of the experience was meeting new faces, hearing their stories, and having conversations about the work, creative process, and inspiration behind the collection.
The Grounding Studio is especially grateful to Carol and Akili for welcoming the collection into their space. Their generosity, support of local artists, and commitment to fostering community made the experience particularly meaningful. It was a beautiful afternoon of connection, conversation, and shared appreciation for creativity.
Valentine's Wheel-Throwing Workshop at 360 Pottery Studio

The Grounding Studio partnered with 360 Pottery Studio for a Valentine’s wheel-throwing workshop held in a calm, welcoming studio environment. The evening brought together individuals, friends, and partners to slow down and spend time with clay in a shared, intentional space.
This was my first time teaching a wheel-throwing workshop, which made the experience especially meaningful. It was grounding to guide participants through the process, explain each step, and watch them bring their pieces to life in their own way.
There was something really special about seeing their focus, patience, and eventual sense of pride as their work took shape. It felt deeply aligned with my philosophy around creation—that working with our hands invites presence, connection, and a quiet sense of joy in what we’re capable of making.
