Service Description
Give yourself four weeks to slow down, get grounded, and experience the quiet joy of creating with clay. This beginner-friendly wheel-throwing course is an invitation to step away from the noise, reconnect with yourself, and learn the foundations of ceramics in an intimate studio setting. With only four students per course, you'll have your own wheel, personalized guidance, and plenty of room to experiment, create, and find your own rhythm. Rather than four separate pottery classes, this course follows the ceramic process from beginning to end. You'll build your skills each week while your pieces move through the stages of making, drying, trimming, firing, glazing, and finishing. Over four weeks, you'll explore: Week 1 — Foundations Learn the fundamentals of the wheel and begin creating your first forms while getting comfortable with centering, opening, pulling, and shaping clay. Week 2 — Form + Process Continue developing your throwing skills, explore new forms, and begin learning what happens to your work as it moves from wet clay through drying, trimming, and firing. Week 3 — Refinement + Technique Trim and refine your pieces, explore handles and additional techniques, and begin developing forms that reflect your own creative interests. Week 4 — Glazing + Finishing Bring your work through the final stages of the process with glazing, refinement, and preparation for final firing. Throughout the course, you'll have time to practice, experiment, make mistakes, try again, and create at your own pace. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of the ceramic process, new skills, and pieces that are uniquely yours. COURSE DETAILS ⚱︎ 4 weekly sessions | 3 hours each ⚱︎ 12 hours of guided instruction + studio practice ⚱︎ Maximum 4 students ⚱︎ Individual wheel for each participant ⚱︎ Beginner-friendly — no prior experience required ⚱︎ Glazing and firing included ⚱︎ Finished pieces available for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks after final firing Clay is not included. 25 lb bags of studio clay are available for purchase from The Grounding Studio for $35. Most students will find one bag sufficient, depending on their practice and project size. Come as you are. Get your hands in the clay. Slow down. Make something that is yours.

Private Studio Location: ⚱︎ The Grounding Studio is a private, appointment-only ceramics studio in Melbourne, Florida. For the privacy and security of our guests and studio, the exact studio address is not publicly displayed. ⚱︎ Your address and arrival instructions will be provided with your booking confirmation after your reservation is completed. ⚱︎ All studio visits are by appointment only. This includes workshops, private sessions, finished-piece pickups, product pickups, custom order pickups, and any other studio visits. Please do not arrive at the studio without a confirmed appointment. ⚱︎ Please do not bring unregistered guests, children, pets, or additional visitors unless approved in advance. ⚱︎ The studio address and arrival instructions are provided only after your reservation or appointment has been confirmed. Booking & Payment: ⚱︎ All workshop reservations are handled directly through The Grounding Studio. Your reservation is confirmed once payment has been completed. ⚱︎ By booking, you acknowledge that you are reserving a specific workshop date and time and agree to The Grounding Studio's cancellation and rescheduling policy. ⚱︎ Please provide accurate contact information when booking so that we can communicate important workshop and studio information with you. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy: ⚱︎ Because each workshop requires advance preparation, materials, and dedicated studio time, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled workshop. ⚱︎ Cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance: You may receive a full refund of your workshop fee. ⚱︎ Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance: Workshop fees are non-refundable. However, you may request one complimentary reschedule to a future available date. Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be requested before the original workshop begins. ⚱︎ Same-day bookings: Bookings made within 48 hours of a workshop are considered confirmed at the time of purchase and are non-refundable. The one-time rescheduling option may still be available if you are unable to attend. ⚱︎ No-shows: No-shows are non-refundable and are not eligible for rescheduling.
