Strata is a Palm & Sip mug inspired by layered earth, sediment, and the slow formation shaped by time and pressure. Made from a dark clay body that reveals its character only through firing, this piece carries natural tones of brown and cream that emerge after being fired three times. Each firing builds depth, texture, and variation, creating a surface rich with layers and quiet contrast.
The name Strata reflects both the physical process and a deeper truth — much like the earth, we are shaped over time. Our experiences, habits, and practices become layers, gradually settling into who we are. This mug is a reminder that growth is an intentional journey, and that the sediment we carry is not weight, but wisdom. Finished with a thumb-dimple for a natural, comfortable grip, Strata is designed to support slow, grounding moments in everyday rituals.

Each piece is wheel-thrown, hand-sculpted, hand-painted, and uniquely finished by Spencer Elizabeth. Every ceramic vessel is bisque fired at 1850°F, glazed, dried, and then fired again at 2230°F to achieve its final form. Depending on the technique and complexity, completing a single piece can take one to two weeks, allowing time for careful painting, drying, and multiple firings.
Every vessel is one of a kind — subtle variations and imperfections are part of its natural beauty, giving each piece its own character. This multi-step, time-intensive, and humbling process is both challenging and deeply rewarding, and a grounding practice for the artist. Each mug, bowl, or vessel is crafted to bring elegance, mindfulness, and serenity to your daily rituals.
